Custom walk-in closet with LED-lit shelving and drawer stacks, designed and installed in Huntington Beach by ClosetsOC

Family owned & operated · Huntington Beach, CA

A closet designed around your life —
built by a family, not a franchise.

Custom walk-ins, reach-ins, and home storage. Designed practically, priced honestly, and installed by our professional team members. Worth the cost — because you pay for the closet, not the corporate overhead.

Prefer to talk it through? So do we — every project starts with a real conversation.

Why family-owned wins

The big franchises sell you a system.
We build you a closet.

Homeowners who choose us over the national chains tend to say the same three things: we’re a small company, we take a more practical approach, and we actually answer the phone. Without layers of corporate cost adders, more of your budget ends up in your closet.

“Family owned and operated. Worth the cost.”

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Answers to what most homeowners ask before booking a design visit. Don’t see yours? Give us a call.

How much does a custom closet cost in Orange County?
Most of our projects fall between $1,000 and $8,000, depending on the size of the space, the materials you choose, and how much detail goes into it. A reach-in closet is on the lower end; a large walk-in with drawers, glass doors, lighting, and custom finishes is on the higher end. We give you a firm price after the in-home design visit — no vague ranges and no surprise change orders once the project is underway.
Do you charge for the initial design consultation?
No. The in-home consultation, the measurements, and the 3D design are all free, with no obligation to move forward.
How long does a custom closet project take, start to finish?
Typically 4–5 weeks from the day you approve your design to the day it's installed — most of that is fabrication time. Installation itself is usually done in one day for a standard closet, and a bit longer for larger projects like a full garage or multiple rooms.
What happens during the in-home design visit?
It takes about 30–45 minutes. We look at the actual space, take precise measurements, and talk through how you use it — what you're storing, what's currently driving you crazy, whether you need more hanging space, more drawers, or shoe storage. Then we walk you through finish and hardware options and build a design around what you actually own. Most clients see a 3D rendering and pricing within 24 hours.
What areas of Orange County do you serve?
We're based in Huntington Beach and serve all of Orange County — including Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Irvine, Fountain Valley, Seal Beach, Laguna Beach, Anaheim, Yorba Linda, San Clemente, and the surrounding communities. If you're not sure whether you're in our area, give us a call at (949) 424-8333.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We're fully licensed (CSLB License #908184), insured, and bonded. We're happy to provide proof of insurance before any work begins.
Do you subcontract installation, or is it your own crew?
No subcontracting. Every installation is done by our own crew — the same people every time. They're employees, not day-labor subcontractors, which is why our installs are clean, level, and finished properly. We're a family-owned business, so the person who designed your closet is involved from the first measurement through the final walkthrough.
What materials and finishes do you use for cabinetry?
We build with ¾"–1" thermally fused laminate and furniture-grade birch, which resists sagging and holds up far better than the particleboard used in big-box systems. You can choose from a range of finishes, including woodgrains, solid colors, and matte and textured options, plus soft-close drawers, adjustable shelving, and a full range of hardware.
How is a custom closet different from IKEA or the Container Store?
Those are pre-sized modular systems — you're fitting your space to their boxes, and whatever's left over becomes wasted space. A custom closet is built to your exact wall dimensions, floor to ceiling, and designed around your specific wardrobe. Practically, that means no gaps or fillers, no leaning towers that have to be anchored around, heavier materials that won't sag under weight, and professional installation instead of a weekend of assembly. Most people find the usable storage difference is significant — often 30–40% more in the same footprint.
How do you compare to California Closets or other franchise companies?
The product quality is comparable — where we differ is how we run the business. We're family-owned and operated, so you're working directly with the owner and our small team rather than a rotating team of commissioned sales reps. That usually means faster response times, more flexibility on design and budget, and no franchise overhead built into your quote. We'd encourage you to get a quote from them and from us and compare the designs side by side — same space, same materials, same scope.
